Hi There
So here’s the first post.
It should probably be something monumental, but I don’t think it’s going to be.
I think it’s just a reaffirmation that I’m still here….after writing here…then stopping…and about to get off the couch and start fighting again.
You know how life can get a tad overwhelming at times? Let’s just say that the past 16 months have taken their toll. If you haven’t seen my wife, Anissa, you should probably check her out. She’s a bundle of amazing, funny, and dare I say….INSPIRATIONAL…rolled up into one.
I had plans to start this site around the new year. It didn’t work out. Then, I was going to start it around my birthday. Yeah, not so much. 3 months, no wait, almost 4 months into my “Year of I Will”, I’m starting back up.
Why?
Well, I happened to catch an article about Rulon Gardner and I could totally relate to the challenges it mentioned.
I’ve had to be a rock for my family for a while now. The only problem with that is that rocks don’t exactly move a whole lot, and I’ve got to get moving more.
So let’s talk about goals. Goals are good things. As the Cheshire cat once said, “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there”.
So, one of my short term goals is to get into some semblance of shape that will allow me to play soccer again in the fall.
I’m 39, overweight and SLOW.
It’s literally been years.
I’ve got less than 6 months.
I’ll be happy if I can join an indoor league and play through the season.
I need something that’s my own again.
There are other goals that I’ll bring up as they fit in. Right now, I only want to focus on one. My wife will tell you, I tend to throw a bunch of good ideas out and not do a single one of them. This one is the most pressing for me, and the first step is weight loss.
So, I hope you’ll follow along as I stumble through this thing called change.
I’ll bring the wife, kids, dog, cat, and frog along for the ride.
Pack sandwiches.
Wait.
Better make it a salad.
